Mini Racer

3D model description

The Mini Racer is fast, compact and fuel-effecient. An aerodynamic design and minimalist take on suspension allow for maximum speed across hardwood or linoleum flooring. It's modern styling distinguish this 3D Printed car from other toys that may have rolled under the couch. JD Power and Associates have never heard of the Mini Racer. But if they ever do, they'll likely print one for themselves and place it next to their trophy.

I made this toy for my son and his Little People® City Skyway. We wanted more cars. Instead, of buying them separately, we designed and printed our own.

Design your own with the Mini Racer OpenSCAD library.

3D printing settings

To assemble the racer, print one of the three bodies, four wheels, four hubcaps and two axles. Snap the hubcaps into the wheels. Thread the axles through the holes in the body and mount the wheels.

I like to print the body and hubcaps in one color and the axles and wheels in black. The cars pictured were printed on a MakerBot Replicator 2 at 0.2mm resolution. I used Simplify3D to arrange the components and manually added supports to the wheel wells.
