Low Cost Portable & Reusable Dehumidifier

This device is designed to assist in preventing moister build-up and mold growth. This low-tech dehumidifier can be used in a bathroom, bedroom, cupboard, car, or any other place that experiences some form of moister build-up. The dehumidifier will remove the excess moister content from the air by using regular table salt.
It is a little-known fact that regular table salt can act as an absorption medium. Salt absorbs water moisture because it is an ionic compound with strong attractive forces for the highly polar water molecules. This property means that salt is hygroscopic, meaning that it absorbs both liquid water and water vapor from the air. This is why it is the best media to use since it is easily accessible and extremely cheap.
The overall structure consists of 3 components. The lid (light brown), the interface (red), and the chamber (light grey). The purpose of the chamber is to house the salt media and the interface. It also has a groove on the outside as to allow for a filter cloth to be attached via a rubber band and covered by the lid.
The interface is created to provide a platform for the salt to be kept. It also serves to create a separation between the extracted water vapour and the salt itself.
The lid serves to close and seal a cloth over the chamber as well as allow everything to remain inside the chamber.
