i like challenges, so i decided to join the S.T.E.A.M. - MakeItFloat
This is my first challenge thingiverse. So I started with my colleague to find a good mix of real solutions for transport of heavy Wight. We found something. This is the second concept of our total 3 ideas for this challenge. Hopefully we have enough time to generate, print and test all 3 concepts.
Focus on this Concept:
1.Print less parts and support structures as possible
2.Carry heavy load -> 2 Euro coins (diameter: 25,75 mm, thickness: 2,20 mm, weight: 8,50 g) - this was my first idea but i had not so much 2 Euro coins... So, i used all coins what i had.
3.Priority: load > design
4.Must be take a lot of load
This can be print on an area of 200x200x180mm with PLA.
i modified the design a few times. i tried it can hold a lot of coins, 1 beer cane (0,5l) and a lit pit ice. the new design should work better, it means it should carry more ice for the beer ;). i have seen when i i place a can in it, that the Center of gravity is high. so i lowered the actual design now.

i printed the legs of my design and i saw it was not stable. so i added a stiffener now. i will print and test it. 27.06.2015

first test in the water done. it swims really good. i made a Picture of the device with a can of 0,5l beer on it. (it is not best beer but it is a beer.). so, it is perfect for the pool :)

i printed it with the new slic3r Version 1.2.9
it is possible to print the parts without any Support material and less infill, it means the most is hollow!
Layer height: 0,3mm
Vertical shells for the wall: minimum 4 better 5 (nozzle Diameter 0,4mm)
Infill: 15% with honeycomb if needed
bottom sheel should have also Minimum 4 shells
Container + cover:
Layer height: 0,3mm
Vertical shells for the wall: minimum 2 better 3 (nozzle Diameter 0,4mm)
Infill: 15% with 3d honeycomb
