Finger Flapper

3D model description

Inspired by DaVinci's flying machine, I made this finger operated model. You can either use your thumb, pointer, and middle finger or your middle three fingers to operate it. The pictures do not include the tail piece.

Here is the thing in action: https://youtu.be/rAEp2KCDNiA

I pondered how to make the wings more.. winglike while still being easily printable. I thought this two part design with a connector looked pretty cool so I stuck with it.

I plan to make a display stand so that the wing could be operated through gears and a crankshaft, rather than fingers.

3D printing settings

I included two main stl files with everything on them for eases of printing. I also included all the individual parts.

Assembly is pretty straightforward;just check out the model in thingiview if you have problems.

Printed with PLA on the Replicator dual on a glass plate.
