Alpha Incipiens -- First Beginnings

The Alpha Incipiens Mars Base is designed for the beginnings of Mars colonization. Its modular design allows for massive customization to fully meet the needs of the colony.

**Colony Heart: ** This centerpiece provides the access to all other parts of the colony. With retractable "hallway arms", it can connect to any other modular piece the colony needs. Equipped with solar panels on top, it stores energy for use elsewhere in the colony. A satellite dish provides communication abilities back to earth and to other satellites.

**Housing: ** Built to look similar to earth housing, it provides a comfortable place for the colonizers to rest. Equipped with solar panels, it is completely powered by the sun, and stores additional energy for use elsewhere.

**Research Center: ** The Research Center provides the colony with the perfect place to perform experiments and take notes of life on Mars. The satellite dish relays the information back to earth.

**Air Lock: ** The air lock is designed to give colonizers a place to access the outside world of Mars. It provides a safe place to leave and enter the colony without putting the rest of the colony in danger. In addition, it serves as a connection to other colony hearts.

**Storage Container: ** The storage container is designed to hold the many tools, packaged food, drink, and other supplies that a mars colony will need to survive. Equipped with solar panels on top, it provides energy to other places in the colony.

**Green House: ** The green house will be the main source of food, where a system of aquaponics provides ample nutrition to the colony. Martian light will fuel the growth of food. Efficient design of the greenhouse interiors gives plenty of room to grow numerous varieties of food for long periods of time.

**Escape Pod: ** The escape pod provides a quick emergency escape for the colony. In the unlikely event of a disaster, the escape pod will easily hold the colony. With equipped food and fuel, the colony will comfortably be able to escape back to earth.

Now, is this scientifically feasible? Surprisingly, yes it is. The modular design of the community can easily adapt to any colony's specific needs. In addition, the modular design provides an easy way to actually get the colony to mars and to quickly assemble to support human life. Power is provided by ample sunlight, food is grown in the greenhouse and sent from earth, water is mined for and stored, and colonizers will be comfortable in the housing and other supplied rooms.
